Who needs an ATF Form 6?
ATF Form 6 is the Application and Permit for the Importation of Firearms, Ammunition and Implements of War. It should be used by a specially licensed person who is importing firearms and related materials into the USA. This form can not be submitted by the Members of the United States Armed Forces.
What is an ATF Form 6 for?
Information provided on this form is used by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) to determine if the details specified on the form qualifies the importation of weapons by the importer. The form also serves as authorization for the importer. It is mandatory to file the ATF form 6 as a source of necessary information for the ATF.
When is ATF Form 6 due?
The application should be filed with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms Office at least 60 days before the intended importation of weapons. After filing, an importer will receive a permit number for importation of the arms. It is valid for up to 12 months from the date specified in Item 19 of this form.
How do I fill out ATF Form 6?

The following sections should be filled out in full in order to complete the ATF form 6 fillable:
Section I — Application including personal information of the applicant, country from which arms are being exported, as well as the Federal Firearm License number if any. The application should also specify the description and purpose of arms to be imported; -
Section II — For ATF purpose only. It should be completed by an authorized ATF clerk.
